Solar South West (SSW) are very excited to have recently installed our first Tesla Powerwall 2 battery, the next generation of Tesla’s original Powerwall energy storage system.
Despite SSW having installed a multitude of energy storage systems in the past, and having been Approved Installers of Tesla batteries since early 2016, this particular job was a proud moment for us. Not only was it the first Powerwall 2 system installed by SSW, it was one of the first systems to be commissioned in this country – having been delivered to us on the very first shipment of Tesla powerwall 2 batteries supplied to the UK.
Once the Tesla battery had been delivered to our base in Somerset, SSW wasted no time in getting it installed and the storage system up and running – configuring the battery to store energy generated by a solar array on site, 6kW of which SSW also installed.
We were pleased to receive a glowing review from the owner of the system, Steve Ashton, who wrote…
I could not have asked for more. Sensible technical advice; neat professional install; persistence in addressing teething issues (early install of Tesla PW2) and a real "can do" approach. I will certainly be returning to SSW for the next expansion of the PV system here.
Steve also kindly left us a picture of the battery after we had installed it and configured it to run alongside his PV, displayed below.
Solar South West are proud to be market leaders in the installation of energy storage batteries in tandem with solar PV. Being one of the premier installers to commission a Tesla Powerwall 2 battery in the UK means a great deal to us. We feel this feat aptly displays our continual efforts to work at the cutting edge of renewable PV and storage technology, ensuring our client’s benefit from the newest and most efficient equipment out there.
Energy storage is an industry we feel is on the verge of a significant breakthrough. Costs have fallen dramatically, and the Government & OFGEM intend to make use of the flexibility storage provides in order to support improvements to the national distribution network. These factors are making energy storage systems increasingly appealing to both commercial & also domestic consumers.
Funding for Energy Storage Systems
If you’re an SME, the Carbon Trust offers funding of up to £10,000 capital contribution towards the installation of energy saving equipment. Energy storage qualifies as such equiptment, meaning so long as you meet certain criteria, you will be able to receive a free contribution towards the installation costs of storage.
