Case Study
Commercial Ground and Roof Mount- Transport and Distribution Business, Somerset

Description

JB Wheaton is a long-established transport and distribution business. The directors, with a passion for renewable energy, wanted to establish carbon offset from the transport fleet. They commissioned SSW to construct a 10,000m²+ solar plant, covering the roof space available, alongside a ground mounted array in the fields adjacent to the main London to Exeter railway line. Commissioned in February 2011, this system became one of the first megawatt-scale installations in the UK. The system was further extended, and is now at 3.4MWp. SSW provided a turn-key service, including design, planning consent, management of the supply upgrade for the export, structural design, construction and commissioning. A full operation and maintenance package has been in place since 2011 and the system consistently meets expected output targets.
