Commercial Ground and Roof Mount- Transport and Distribution Business, Somerset
Description
JB Wheaton is a long-established transport and distribution business. The Directors, with a passion for renewable energy to assist carbon offset from the transport fleet, commissioned SSW to construct a solar plant covering the 6,000m² of roof space available, alongside a ground mounted array in the fields adjacent to the main London to Exeter railway line. This system became the first MW scale installation in the UK, commissioned from February 2011, the system was further extended and now extends to 3.4MWp. SSW provided a turn-key service from planning consent, grid re-enforcement for the export spill, structural design, construction and commissioning. A full operation and maintenance package has been in place since commissioning in 2011 and the system has consistently performed to target.
