Who we are
In a world where fossil fuels are limited, nuclear is expensive, and neither are sustainable – the goal of SSW is to continue to contribute towards the development and deployment of clean, renewable solar generation and storage technology.
We commissioned the first 1MW+ roof-top solar installation in the UK at JB Wheaton and Sons. We later completed our second 1MWp+ ground-mounted solar farm in the UK (one of the first in the UK) at Coombe Farm
We completed the build-out of a 3.2MWp portfolio for AH Warren Trust and completed a 3.5MWp portfolio of roof-top and ground-mounted projects for KWTN Solar.
We completed hundreds of domestic solar installation projects for clients, as well as developing larger utility-scale projects, and building multi-megawatt roof and ground-mounted installations. We grew our specialist Operation & Maintenance capability and client base.
We merged with our electrical partners, TRN Electrical Ltd. We completed installs and remediation works for important clients such as Thatchers Cider and Innova Capital. We grew our Operation & Maintenance Responsibilities to 17MWp under management.
We saw an increase in demand for domestic solar projects and interest in larger schemes. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, we mastered remote team working and still managed to install 1.5MWp of new projects during the year, including a large roof-top project for Yeo Valley Production Centres, and electrical remediation works at three utility-scale projects. We obtained planning permission on a 12MWp site in North Devon on behalf of a client.
Who we are
Our Story
Solar South West was established in 2009, by Nicholas Keeler, Mark Wheaton, Tim Noyes and Philip Cook. At this time the UK solar industry was very small, and an opportunity existed for a business to specialise in commercial scale systems benefiting forward thinking clients from increasing electricity costs and the early subsidies offered by the Renewables Obligation and Feed in Tariff schemes.

Our ethos and values
SSW act on a constant commitment and passion for providing clean energy solutions at an affordable price, no matter how big or small the project. SSWUK´s main asset is its skilled and experienced staff, enabling practical and innovative solutions to new construction and maintenance work
Contact us to discuss your requirementsWe work with various sectors

Housing & Architectural Development
Many developers must meet planning conditions involving mandatory solar installation capacity. Others recognize the value of incorporating a system that is designed for optimal return and sustainability.

Schools and Universities
An increasing number of educational establishments are contacting us to advise on their options in regard to capitalizing on the potential of solar generation. Schools generally have a demand profile that is well matched to solar.

Food & Retail Sector
Food & Retail is another sector with generally stable electrical demand and the potential for high financial returns by substituting grid electricity for distributed solar self-generation.

Public & Private Sector
From government buildings, police stations to hospitals, solar generation has the potential to reduce costs and save local authorities important sums of money.

Transport & Distribution
From our first project at JB Wheatons transport, we have seen sustained demand from this sector. We expect continued demand as some companies begin to transition to electric transport solutions.

Manufacturing & Engineering
Manufacturing processes are often concentrated during the day time and are well matched for solar generation. Typically projects can achieve < 5 years payback on investment with significant long-term benefits.

Leisure & Tourism Sector
From caravan parks to holiday cottages, there is great scope and opportunity for solar technology to reduce operational costs and increase your business sustainability profile.

Investment Funds & Asset Management
Asset Managers rely on our technical experience and ability to monitor, diagnose, and rectify solar schemes that have often been newly acquired or that have undergone a change in contractual arrangements.
